| XSR48 production model displayed in Monaco. |
The stunning powerboat that renowned British BBC TV Top Gear presenter and journalist Jeremy Clarkson called "the most beautiful thing ever created by man" is revealed to a select few at the Monaco Yacht Show – alongside the prototype that made its debut last December. The owner of this first full production model, that is to be delivered to the Cote d'Azur in early November '07, has allowed her to be shown at the world's most exotic Superyacht show. The concept of developing the XSR48 with the inherent DNA of a Supercar was conceived by XSMG World and supported by some world class design partners including Fabio Buzzi's FB Design and High Modulus.
Priced at £1.3m, the 48ft XSR48 is truly one of the world's most technologically-advanced and safest high speed craft; a unique F1 style monocoque hull/deck structure manufactured in Kevlar/carbon-fibre, creating a structural integrity allowing XSMG to insert a special glass roof down the full length of the deck of this 75 knot vessel and increasing internal cabin space by up to 40%. But the driving experience is where the XSR48 ranks as remarkable, finite handling, extraordinary cornering, powered by twin bi-turbo diesel Isotta Fraschini 11.3L engines each delivering a minimum of 800bhp giving unrivalled mid-range acceleration; the XSR48 redefines the experience of speed on water.
CEO Ian Sanderson is a powerboat world champion and will be presenting the XSR48 on the stand. ..."Combining the DNA and high performance of a supercar in a boat with Superyacht styling created one the world's first true Superboat's, but at the Monaco show perhaps we should call it the world’s first Super-tender" is how Ian Sanderson describes the XSR48.
