Top Gear's newest star - the XSR48 Superboat!
What is the quickest - and most stylish - way to travel the Med - Superboat or Supercar? This is the question that BBC's Top Gear set out to answer in their latest series.

Pitting the XSR48 Superboat against a Ferrari Daytona, Top Gear's presenters Richard Hammond and James May were both supremely confident of their vehicle choice as they set off from Portofino on the 250 nautical mile journey.

With 'Captain Slow' at the helm of the £1.3million Superboat and some of the worst weather conditions experienced in the Mediterranean this year, it soon became evident it was going to be a close-run challenge.

However even after a little stop with the coastguard, the world's fastest diesel production boat didn't disappoint and the XSR48 arrived in style in St Tropez harbour ahead of the Ferrari.

So it is official - the XSR48 Superboat is the fastest and most stylish method of transport in the Med!
