Royal Wave In The Solent For World's Fastest Power Boat
The region's marine industry is set to hit world headlines today with the launch in Lymington of the world’s fastest diesel production boat by HRH Prince Michael of Kent.

The XSR48 produced by XSMG World has real race boat handling. But style has not been sacrificed for speed. The XSR48 combines the DNA and high performance of a supercar with superyacht styling to create the world's first true superboat.

Developed to suit the tastes and the pockets of the world's growing numbers of ultra-rich individuals, the XSR48 comes with a price tag of £1.3 million. And the boat will be exclusive too with only 100 to be produced.

Speaking at the launch, CEO Ian Sanderson said "Globally the ultra-rich are spending vast amounts of money on supercars but there was no marine equivalent in the market, so we challenged ourselves to create a superboat, a state of the art performance powerboat with the DNA of a supercar.

"The major advantage of a superboat is the freedom the ocean offers our clients to enjoy their investment. There really are no boundaries, no speed cameras or speed traps on the open sea.

This is a great local success story, it was an amazing challenge, but to find such incredible design and engineering talent within a 10 mile radius is a further example of the region's place at the pinnacle of international marine design and boat building”.

HRH Prince Michael said "The boat is the product of three great British attributes: innovation, entrepreneurship, and a taste for adventure. I am delighted to have been asked to launch XSR48, a true super product of which the British industry should be proud".

Over 100,000 man hours have gone into the development of the XSR48, with designers, naval architects, craftsmen and engineers exploring every aspect of the hydronamics, aerodynamics, aesthetics, ergonomics, propulsion, power and performance.
