THE DESIGN AND ENGINEERING TEAM
The programme to develop the XSR Interceptor is led by XSMG’s in-house design team, supplemented by military specialist companies and external consultancies. This world-class team has created a truly unique vessel that redefines the operational boundaries of high speed intercept, pursuit and patrol missions in coastal waters. The team is constantly developing new ideas and technologies to further extend the capabilities of the XSR Interceptor range of vessels.
Lorne Campbell Design, the leading naval architect practice, is responsible for the XSR's hull hydrodynamics. Lorne Campbell has been responsible for craft that have changed the perceived boundaries of performance for fast planing craft in both the military and commercial sectors and has been recognised by the Royal Institute of Naval Architects for contributions to fast powerboat design.
The structural engineering of the XSR Interceptor is by SP High Modulus, a company with over 20 years experience in integrating structural design, materials science, manufacturing technology and process engineering to produce vessels that are immensely strong yet light.
XSMG and its partners can verify that the XSR Interceptor is the most technically advanced product in its class, and by a significant margin. From bow to stern with entirely composite construction, this high performance monohull has design features that provide tangible benefits to operators; lighter, stronger, faster, safer, more stable, more comfortable, more durable, more robust, lower centre of gravity and greater systems load and fuel capacities.
